The Quran and the Sunnah make it explicit that Muslims are individually as well as collectively, responsible for amr-bil-ma’ruf (2:145), i.e. for enjoining good, and for tabligh.
This obligation if carried out sincerely, brings one closer to Allah and helps us realize that He alone, is the Ultimate Being worthy of reverence, obedience, devotion, and worship.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”stretch_row” css=”.vc_custom_1539591636791{padding-top: 0px !important;padding-bottom: 2px !important;}” el_class=”page-text”][vc_column css=”.vc_custom_1538655528005{padding-top: 0px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1539342181841{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}”]This noble task has been taken up by various Muslim groups throughout the ages in different parts of the world with varied techniques, methods and means. However, the present era poses a formidable challenge perhaps never experienced before. The IT revolution, electronic media, video culture, super-computer, fax and other technologies have made those interested in sharing Islamic message at a global level. Da’wah as a specialized discipline needs to be taken up, not only at an academic level in the form of a comparative study of Islam and other world religions and ideologies but also through professional training of Da’wah workers. An integrated and comprehensive approach and methodology which fully utilizes disciplines such as communication, comparative religion, cross-cultural studies and social psychology has to be developed in order to disseminate the message of Islam in an effective manner. Unfortunately, the institution of higher learning and research rarely exists in the entire Muslim world where classical Islamic sciences and modern social and physical sciences have been integrated for the purpose of Da’wah.
The need of such an international Islamic institution was fully reflected in the Presidential Directive no.952 of 1982 (dated September 12, 1981).
In compliance with the directive of the President of Pakistan (No. 952 of 1981), the International Islamic University, Islamabad had set up a Da‘wah Project (1983-85). Later on in March 1985, through the Ordinance No. XXX notified in the Government of Pakistan Gazette as Notification No. 1791)85-Pub dated 31-3-1985, an Academy for Da‘wah and training of Imams was established as an autonomous constituent unit within the International Islamic University.
The Cabinet in its special meeting held on 5th June 1985 at Islamabad decided to reorganize the Da‘wah Project as Academy for Da‘wah and Training of Imams. The Cabinet also approved the objectives and functions of Da‘wah Academy which were also later on approved by the Board of Trustees, the highest authority of the University in its second meeting held on July 16-17, 1987.
In that meeting name of Academy was also changed to “Da’wah Academy“. This Academy was established in order to develop Da’wah-oriented training, research and publication programs for the Pakistani people in general and for overseas Muslim communities in particular. The continuing education programs of the Da’wah Academy offer services to the Ummah through training programs, research, publication, distance learning, seminars, symposia, audio/video and other means.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
