Dr. Suhail Hasan

Message of the Director General

Education and Training is one of the primary tasks of all Prophets of Allah (S.W.T), consequently, whenever an institution like Masjid or Madrasah was established in our history, the purpose and objective was not only to provide a place for instruction or practice of rituals but more importantly human development through training (Tarbiyah). When the Prophet (Pease Be Upon Him) constructed first Masjid in Madinah Al- Munawwarah an Academy or a University was also established at Suffah.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”page-text”][vc_column][vc_column_text]The International Islamic University, Islamabad came into existence in 1981. The Founding Trustees and the faculty members of the University were clear from the beginning that this University should play a comprehensive role not only in educating students through its Academic programs but also offer services to the (Ummah) community in Pakistan and the Ummah Abroad. It was with this purpose in mind that the then Director of Institute of Dawah and Qirat (which later developed as Faculty of Usul-ud-Din) was asked to develop a concept paper on how the University could have a continuing education wing as its constituent unit for the education  and training of the members of the community. A working paper was prepared and a consultation was held, in Islamabad, in which Dr. Ahmad Von Denffer from Germany, Dr. Abdur Raheem from Islamic Centre, Sudan, Dr. Tallat Sultan from USA, Dr. Tamano from Philippines and Dr. Anis Ahmad from Pakistan participated. The working paper was considered by the above experts during the consultation. For around three days, deliberations were held and ultimately they recommended to establish a training wing of the University with a comprehensive approach for Dawah. Dr. Anis Ahmad was asked to finally develop a work plan to be presented to the Cabinet for its approval.

The Cabinet approved the proposal and decided to establish “Dawah projects” to implement the programs and projects visualized in the proposal. The project operated from 1983 till 1985. In 1985, the whole scheme of the University went through a revision and the “Academy for Dawah and Training of Imams” was established  to take over and continue the task of the Dawah Project of the IIUI. Later on in 1987 the name of Academy was changed to “Da’wah Academy”.

Da’wah Academy as a constituent unit of International Islamic University Islamabad striving to disseminate message of Islam by teaching and inculcating Islamic beliefs, objectives, ideals through organizing Islamic orientation programs for various segments of the society, keeping their specific needs in view; preparation, publication and distribution of Islamic books and monographs, research journals and magazines, Islamic audios and videos; holding Quran learning and memorizing courses, sermons, conferences and seminars; broadcasting radio programs, and offering Islamic correspondence courses.

I thank Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala for His blessings in developing this Academy on sound foundation. The Academy today, Alhamdulillah, has honour of publishing more than one thousand titles in 24 national and International languages and training more than seventy thousand men and women through its more than eight hundred Islamic orientation programs at national and International level.  Da’wah Academy also has the honour of publishing the translation of meaning of the Quran in ten national and International languages.

During these past years, the team of researchers, scholars and administrators in the Academy, like the unknown soldiers have contributed every single ounce of their energy in making the programs of the Academy a success. I would like to record my personal appreciation for the team in Academy for its remarkable achievements. We shall, Insha Allah, continue in the same spirit. I pray to Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala for further development and progress of the Academy.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
