Faisal Mosque (Urdu: فیصل مسجد) is the mosque in Islamabad, Pakistan. Located on the foothills of Margalla Hills in Islamabad, the mosque features a contemporary design consisting of eight sides of concrete shell and is inspired by a Bedouin tent. Main Prayer Hall
Four main girders each comprising of two legs meet at the summit thus forming largest cantilever roof in the world. The double slab roof with hinged beams transmit load to the girders. The height of the roof is 140 feet (45 meters). Initially light blue coloured carpet was placed in main hall. After almost thirty years in June 2013 Saudi Government gifted Pakistani nation new red coloured carpet of more than 30 million rupees cost, which was later on replaced by old light blue coloured carpet in main hall of Faisal Masjid and ladies gallery.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1538571962240{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”][/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
Mehrab
The place for leading prayers by Imam has been designed to appear as an open book, made of white marble slabs engraved in relief with the ninety-nine attributes of Allah on the outer borders and best of the holy attributes of ‘Allah’ is written in the centre in blue precious stone, lapis lazuli mosaic. It is framed in gold plated copper trim.

Courtyard & Porticoes
The courtyard of the Masjid is paved with beautiful granite stone tiles. The courtyard can accommodate 40,000 namazis at a time. Porticoes are located at the periphery of the main courtyard of the Masjid. It has a series of columns. Qibla Wall
Decorated with custom manufactured art ceramic and scripture tiles, the Qibla wall depicts a soothing abstract landscape of bounty, peace and prosperity. Entrance Verandah
Located on the East outside the prayer hall is the entrance verandah. It has a series of columns and decorative cantilever roof equipped with attractive light fittings.

Ladies Gallery
A gallery for ladies has been constructed at a raised level along the eastern wall inside the prayer hall. Moezzin’s Pew

Fountains

Minarets
Four minarets, one at each corner of the prayer hall, each 285 feet high including 14 feet gold plated copper crescent on top. The minarets add to the grandeur of the Masjid. Ablution Area
Ablution area of the Masjid is located at ground level close to the main entrance. It provides open space with 200 ablution units made of white marble and a large reflection pool in the centre with a fountain of white frothy aerated water jets. Mimber
The Mimber is used for delivering sermons by the Imam. It is carved out of white marble and bears and a circular emblem of Sura Fateh made from Blue lapis lazuli stone embedded in gold plated copper relief.

Chandelier
A huge chandelier weighing over 6.5 tons has been installed in the centre of the main prayer hall. It has been fabricated with aluminium tubes anodized in gold colour in the shape of a sphere and an outer ring.
